Photography Excursion/Memorial Marathon

Long time no see! Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile. My poopy computer has been acting up. I finally got it to work long enough to load up my pictures, so cross your fingers it works long enough to write this {short} post!

The Saturday before the race, Janna and I met downtown for lunch and a photo excursion. We had a blast! After following the blue dot on my iPhone GPS in search of Subway, we headed to the Memorial. The feeling you get when walking around an area where one of America's most tragic events happened is indescribable. I don't want this post to be sad, so I'll move on, but if you haven't had a chance to see the Oklahoma City Memorial, go check it out. Here are a few pics from the Memorial:

After the Memorial we headed towards the Arts Festival. There were too many people and the smell of french fries was so overwhelming that we nixed the festival and walked to Bricktown. Let me remind you of something: for some reason we both put on flip flops/sandals for this occasion. WHAT WERE WE THINKING?! Janna was getting blisters and my hammer toe was hammering away in pain! Next time, tennis shoes for sure. Here's a funny pic of our mistake:

Nothing too exciting happened while in Bricktown besides our stop at Sonic for a happy hour Diet Dr. Pepper. We were tired, our feet were hurting, and gosh darn it we felt dehydrated and NEEDED a DDP! It was delicious! Here are a few pics from Bricktown:

I figured out that I'm much more interested (and better!) at taking pictures of people, their faces, and their many expressions.

Without dragging this post on forever, I just wanted to say that our relay team of 5 amazing girls came in 1st in the Corporate Female category at the Memorial Marathon! The relay was so fun and we kicked butt. Our pace was around 8:30 min/mile. We came in 5th overall in the female category. I got a little dehydrated and didn't eat enough, but I had a blast! As the team joined me as I was running to the finish line, they announced "and here comes team PACER Go Mitch Go and we all pumped our fist in the air. The photographers captured it. It was an awesome moment and a pleasure to run in support of the Go Mitch Go foundation. Here are the pics (borrowed from brightroom.com - Thanks!).

OK - hate to end this amazing (not) post, but I must go watch American Idol and Modern Family, and then hit the sac. Goodnight all!

T-2 days!

Happy Friday everyone! It's officially here: the weekend of the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. Wooohoooo!! I am so ready to run! This year a lot of the events were sold out (Full marathon, half marathon, and relay). This year marked the 15 year anniversary of the bomb attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Building.

I wasn't here but my heart goes out to the Oklahomans and those who were lost. We will run our hearts out to remember them!

We all went downtown today to pick up our race packets and our t-shirts. Our race tanks turned out awesome! The founders of the Go Mitch Go Foundation paid to have our tanks screen printed with their logo. We will be running in style and in honor of Mitch!
As Janna, Lindsay and I were headed out of the expo we were offered to have our picture taken and printed for free, so we thought, what the heck?
I'm holding our Go Mitch Go tank, by the way...

Also, while at the expo I saw this shirt:

Pretty cute huh? I thought so..
I'll definitely post some pics of our team after we win! :) The weather is supposed to be great. I think Carmen has every degree memorized by hour, along with every wind speed. I'm hoping for at least 60 degrees by my race time (9:30ish) and no wind. If there HAS to be a wind, I'm hoping for a North wind to push me! :)
Here's a pic of our winning team last year:

Wish us luck! Oh, and be sure to track us with your iPhone app called Memorial Marathon. Our bib # is R 428. Thanks!

Tomorrow Janna and I are going downtown to go on a photography excursion. She's husband-less and kid-less this weekend so we are going to enjoy ourselves and snap away until our hearts are content! The awesomeFestival of the Arts is going on this week so we will be able to stop by and hopefully take some great pictures of the artists and their work. It works out perfect that we're going the day before the race so we have no choice but to NOT eat all the yummy food down there! Darn! I'll be sure to post some pictures from our excursion!

Have a grrrreat weekend! I'll be back sometime Sunday to post race results and pictures!

ta ta for now. ;)

Another great weekend

Another great weekend has come and gone. Even with the constant rain, Keith and I still had a great weekend spending quality time together. Saturday I had so much fun doing 'Saturday' stuff with Keith. We went to the mall so I could get new running shoes (tested them out today - fabulous!), we swung by Starbucks to get some coffee (Black for him, since he believes coffee isn't coffee unless it's black. psh..whatever! I enjoyed a delicious skinny vanilla latte!), ran to the grocery store for a few needs, stopped by Redbox for a couple of movies (Up In The Air, B+, Bad Lieutenant, F), and the best part of our day together was the yummy food we enjoyed at our favorite restaurant, BJ's. We rarely go out to dinner, much less 2 nights in a row, so it was a treat! Plus, you can never go wrong when you eat at BJ's. It's our absolute favorite. We should be up for some sort of BJ's frequent eaters award. :)

After a busy Sunday morning full of chores, we're now awaiting the Academy of Country Music Awards! I can't wait to see some Keith Urban (yum), Lady A, and lots of Sugarland! Tune in!

The weather prevented Sam and I from taking pictures, but here's a picture of what this lazy Sunday has been like in our house. :) Enjoy our precious babies.

Have a great week!

Food Baby

Oh my goodness I am FULL!! I think Keith and I just set a world record for the amount of chips and salsa consumed in one setting. It got kind of embarassing when the waiter brought us our 5th basket. The salsa at Mama Roja is soooo good! If you go there, be sure to ask for the green stuff (they'll know what you're talkin' about). Who knows why they don't just give it to you with the regular salsa and queso. Anyway, dinner on the lake was delicious. The dreary, rainy weather prevented us from eating on the patio, but I was too busy stuffing chips and yummy salsa's in my mouth to be too bummed. Plus, there's more important things in life than to be bummed about that, right?

On another note: TGIF!! I had a great day at work. Today I hit the halfway mark with my boot campers. Needless to say, I helped them celebrate by kicking their butts even harder. :) I did the workout with them - it was pretty good! Last Friday, I REALLY kicked their butts. And I wore this shirt Pretty funny huh? I thought so. 2 more weeks of this lunch time boot camp, then 2 more boot camps this summer. I LOVE IT!

Pretty laid back weekend planned. Here's my plans, in bullet form (for you Mom!):
- grocery shop
- clean
- buy new running shoes with Keith (these if anyone cares)
- hopefully go for a test run in them (if the weather cooperates)
- meet my bff Sam on Sunday to help her with a project (she needs a photographer!)
- and...relax, read, nap, eat, and relax some more.

You, my friends, have yourself a fabulous weekend. Do me 2 favors: A) go out and exercise! and B) be thankful for everything you have in life.

Meet back here on Sunday evening? Ok.

Oh, I almost forgot. Here's a pic of this relaxing rainy day in OKC.

Relay leg practice run

Today I set out to run the full 6.2 miles that I will be running in the Memorial Marathon Relay on April 25th. I had a great run, even with the wind gusts and semi-hot sun shining. Thanks to my girl Janna, aka Scrappy, for running/training with me. Our conversations make the miles seem like nothin'! I feel more and more prepared to run the last leg of the race. It will be my 3rd relay race (2 in OKC, 1 in Tulsa) and my first time running this leg. This year we will be running in support of the wonderful Go Mitch Go Foundation, in honor of Mitchell Whitaker. Check out the foundation here. Our team of 5 girls (PACER 405) will most likely kick some butt this year, again. :) I can't wait!

Sorry folks, no pictures to post today. Tomorrow my boo and I are going on a date to the wonderful Mama Roja Mexican Restaurant on Lake Hefner. I'll be sure to post some scenery pics from our date, unless it rains (80% chance - dang it!). Until tomorrow friends...

Much love.

Redbuds

Today I ventured out to Lake Hefner here in Oklahoma City to capture a few pics of the blooming Redbud trees. I love the little petals on these trees, and the colors are great. More pink-ish then red, but eh, who cares? Off to watch American Idol. I love Lee...and Crystal. I still miss DiDi..

Welcome to my blog!

Hey pals ~ Thanks for stopping by to give my blog some love. I've created this blog so my friends/family/whoever else can stay up to date with my life (and how freakin' awesome it is), my loves (I love a LOT of things), and my pictures. Do enjoy. Oh, and feel free to comment!
